Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Independent Living Program Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator to support the Program Director in planning and delivering resident programs and community events. You will also lead volunteer outreach to recruit and retain volunteers, ensuring residents remain engaged and healthy.

The role may involve some travel within the community and weekend/holiday coverage, with a focus on building partnerships and delivering high-quality programs for Independent Living residents.

Qualifications

• Education or training in a health care field or certified as an activity professional by a recognized accrediting body, preferred but not required
• Two years’ experience in activity planning for seniors
• Two years’ experience recruiting and retaining volunteers
• Must be personable with excellent phone and communication skills
• Must develop relationships and partnerships that benefit the community
• Knowledge of social and psychological needs of residents
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Time management and problem-solving skills
• Clean driving record and eligible for company driving policy
• Ability to use technology effectively

Responsibilities

• Assist Program Director with planning and preparing events for Independent Living residents
• Manage transportation and outings for residents
• Assist with monthly calendar production
• Help residents use digital programs and technology
• Maintain knowledge of community services and events to incorporate into activity schedules
• Create welcoming atmosphere for residents, volunteers and staff
• Maintain organized volunteer records and documentation
• Promote teamwork and positive attitude among staff
• Evaluate activity quality and suggest improvements
• Weekend/holiday rotation duties as scheduled
