Job summary

Florida Department of Education—Office of Student Financial Assistance seeks a Program Specialist III to support professional staff in administering student financial aid programs. You will communicate with institutions and students on complex award issues, aid disbursement, and policy interpretation, under limited supervision.

The role requires experience in program management, training development, and public speaking.

Qualifications

• Four years of professional experience in business operations, financial accounting, or program management.
• Experience in creating and conducting training courses.
• Experience with public speaking.
• Ability to provide work samples of writing skills on request.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate Postsecondary Institution Renewal Applications to determine program participation eligibility.
• Maintain accurate Institution Demographic Information.
• Serve as liaison for State Student Financial Aid Database security.
• Develop systems and reports for anticipating future applicant criteria.
• Develop policy analysis for the unit director.
• Produce reports reflecting assessment of applicant data and information systems.
• Establish and maintain a computerized database to manage data on student applicants for financial assistance programs.
• Evaluate applicant data to determine eligibility, make awards, and ensure timely disbursement of funds.
• Provide technical assistance on program requirements to applicants, parents, and schools.
• Analyze and recommend changes to program rules or statutory authority.
• Develop and maintain statistical and demographic reports.
• Oversee training and materials for counselors and stakeholders.
