The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine seeks a Senior Program Officer to develop and manage highly complex projects in the mathematical sciences within CAST. The SPO will oversee program strategy, staffing, budgeting, and engagement with committees, sponsors, and external partners.

This role requires advanced knowledge in mathematics, strong program management, and the ability to communicate with diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of the mathematical sciences and related policy issues.
• Strong program/project management and facilitation skills.
• Ability to communicate technical and policy topics to diverse audiences.
• Capability to manage multiple complex projects and lead staff.
• Experience working with sponsors, funders, and external partners.

Responsabilités

• Independently designs and manages highly complex programs or projects, developing strategy, budget, staffing, and evaluation.
• Assembles committees, guides consensus, and leads forums/workshops with chairs and members.
• Plans and executes workshops, meetings, and dissemination activities including agendas and summaries.
• Prepares background papers, technical summaries, and reports; drafts and edits publications.
• Supports committee members and staff in draft reports, reviews, and manuscript preparation.
• Oversees communications, dissemination plans, and engagement with external organizations and sponsors.
• Supervises program staff, mentors personnel, and conducts performance reviews.
• Manages financials including budgets, schedules, and expenditures in collaboration with finance.
