Job summary

The City of Tukwila's Public Works Department seeks a Civil Engineer to lead the design and construction of city utilities, floodplain management, and salmon habitat restoration projects. You will provide technical guidance to the City Engineer, City Council, and agencies, and manage the six-year CIP with oversight of project managers.

Required ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, PE license (or in progress), and substantial supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required or must be obtained.
• Demonstrated understanding of municipal utility design and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and direct design and construction of utilities infrastructure.
• Provide technical expertise to City Engineer, City Council, and agencies.
• Develop and manage the six-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
• Supervise project managers and ensure staff performance.
• Ensure compliance with APWA Construction Specifications and WSDOT guidelines.
• Coordinate long-range system planning with other departments and districts.
• Support regulatory compliance for wastewater, stormwater, and drinking water regulations.
