Job summary

Artheon is a trusted engineering and consulting firm delivering civil/site engineering, environmental permitting, transportation infrastructure, construction management, and advanced surveying solutions.

The Program Manager, Planning in Albany, NY will supervise staff, guide project delivery, and help grow the Planning division serving public and private clients. Strong communication and travel across New York State are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field required; Master’s degree and AICP certification preferred.
• Approximately 10 years of professional planning experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing staff or teams.
• Strong knowledge of land use planning best practices, zoning regulations, and land use codes; form-based code experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent technical writing, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must be a skilled public presenter with the ability to effectively represent the firm in public and community settings.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review the work of staff to ensure adherence to professional standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with Director of Planning on projects and initiatives.
• Supervise staff, manage workloads, and monitor project schedules.
• Lead planning projects including comprehensive plans, zoning, environmental assessments, and development plans.
• Represent the firm at public meetings and marketing events as needed.
• Assist with marketing documents, proposals, budgets, and contracts for review.
• Support hiring decisions, staff development, and performance reviews.
• Monitor project performance and profitability for the Planning department.
• Deliver high-quality planning services through collaboration with clients and internal teams.
