Job summary

Etude Capital LLC is building a new specialty program portfolio in the insurance space. The Program Lead will define strategy, establish relationships with program administrators, MGAs, and other sources, and own growth and profitability from concept to launch.

This is a senior hunter role with P&L accountability. You will source and close major opportunities across commercial property and casualty, with support from an AI-enabled platform, engineering, actuarial, and claims teams.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of commercial P&C experience.
• 8+ years building and scaling programs with premium growth.
• Senior-level relationships with carriers and MGAs.
• Proven P&L management for a program portfolio.
• Deep knowledge of commercial property coverage and underwriting guidelines.
• Executive negotiation for program agreements and capacity terms.
• Experience recruiting and leading program, underwriting, or business development teams.
• Proactive hunter mindset with willingness to travel 30–40%.

Responsibilities

• Set program growth strategy across classes, states, and partners.
• Source and close major program opportunities via network of administrators, MGAs, wholesalers, and associations.
• Evaluate opportunities based on market size, loss history, distribution reach, and risk alignment.
• Lead executive negotiations on commissions, profit sharing, underwriting authority, and multi-year contracts.
• Own program business plans, premium projections, and loss-ratio targets; present to carriers and board.
• Establish appetite, guidelines, rating structures, and authority levels with underwriting and actuarial teams.
• Oversee due diligence, contract execution, regulatory filings, and launch across legal, compliance, product, and ops teams.
• Recruit, mentor, and lead program managers and business development staff as portfolio expands.
• Represent the business in the market; participate in panels and industry events.
