Job summary

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of federal and state constitutional and administrative law and practice.
  • Expertise in legal research, analysis, and advocacy strategy.
  • Strong program design, development, and evaluation skills.
  • Experience supervising student employees and staff.
  • Budgeting including gifts and grants.
  • Intergovernmental cooperation and coalition building.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and UC Berkeley community.

Responsibilities

  • Program Design and Partnership Lead: Design and develop programs engaging students, practitioners, policy-makers, and the public; coordinate with internal partners and stakeholders to advance practicums and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Program Management: Administer programs to strengthen state and local capacity; supervise student employees and staff; partner with faculty and external institutions to design and implement programs.
  • Direct Impact Work: Draft amicus briefs and other materials; make court appearances as needed; design student-learning opportunities; build coalitions and partnerships; oversee research and outreach activities.
  • Program Evaluation and Budget Management: Assess program effectiveness; solicit feedback; participate in budgeting processes; report on progress; identify opportunities to improve efficiency and sustainability.
  • Fundraising and External Relations: Identify funding opportunities; represent the Center with external partners; develop proposals for new initiatives.
  • Supervision: Hire, train, and supervise student employees; support workforce planning and staffing initiatives as the Center grows; guide research and program-related activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
