Job summary

The University of California, Irvine – Korematsu Center seeks a Director to oversee finance, HR and facilities for a mid-sized academic program. You will set the center's agenda, funding objectives and public advocacy goals while managing litigation timelines and case files.

You will build partnerships with public defenders, civil legal aid, and pro bono counsel, supervise Student Fellows, and contribute to fundraising and grant writing to advance civil rights litigation nationwide.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• Active State or DC Bar License; California Bar Admission preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Creative and independent thinker for analytically complex concepts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups.
• Minimum of 3 years of trial and appellate litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer center finance, HR and facilities.
• Develop conferences and public forums for the Center.
• Set center agenda, funding and objectives with leadership.
• Strategic & Litigation Planning and advocacy follow-through.
• Manage litigation calendars, case openings/closings and files.
• Develop partnerships with pro bono counsel and advocacy orgs.
