Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Manage the lifecycle of Center events including planning, internal and external communications, registration, coordination of event stakeholders (staff, faculty, students, volunteers, vendors), event execution and post‑event evaluation.
  • Coordinate daily operations of the center; produce administrative reports, draft correspondence, and collect information as requested.
  • Implement branding and marketing actions across platforms; collaborate with Marketing team on content and social media communications.
  • Develop and maintain Advisory Council membership; coordinate outreach to current and prospective members and engage industry partners.
  • Create and oversee student-related events for recruiting and cocurricular learning opportunities; identify case competition opportunities.

Purpose

The Center is seeking to hire a Senior Program Coordinator to help oversee the activities of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Private Equity Center (Center) at the McCombs School of Business. The position’s responsibilities will focus on assisting the Directors of the Centers in developing, coordinating, marketing, and executing activities to enhance the Centers' brand externally and internally. The Senior Program Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director of the Center and have secondary reporting responsibilities to the Academic Director of the Center.

Requirements
Event Management
  • Work with Center’s Directors to develop and oversee planning, marketing, and executing events for the Center. Collaborate with Department of Finance, School of Business and University of Texas stakeholders on event execution.
  • Manage the lifecycle of all Center events including planning, internal and external communications, registration, coordination of event stakeholders (staff, faculty, students, volunteers, vendors), event execution and post‑event evaluation. This will include: student programs, events that bring together business leaders, faculty, and students for stimulating presentations and/or panel discussions; and special hands‑on programs for the Center and industry partners.
  • Enhance Center relationships with industry professionals and identify possible career opportunities for McCombs students. Collaborate as needed with the School’s programs offices and Career Management & Corporate Relations teams. Represent the Center at industry events and promote the Center’s brand, programs, and activities.
Center Administrative Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the daily operations of the center. Adhere to University, School and internal departmental policies and operating practices related to financial, travel, event management and student affairs policies. Assist in producing administrative reports, drafting correspondence, and collecting information as requested from various resources.
  • Work with faculty and staff at McCombs to advance both the academic programs (BBA, MBA, PhD, MSF, EMBA, and MSTC) and the Center's broader objectives (Council membership, industry relationships, and the University's reputation as a leader in Private Equity and Venture Capital education and research).
  • Work with Center’s Directors to monitor annual budget status throughout the year and develop reporting schedules and reports for the Center’s Directors and the Department of Finance Chair.
Marketing and Communication
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and management of the Center's brand in a cohesive manner across all marketing platforms, including the Center’s web site.
  • Take necessary actions to further the Center’s efforts, either as part of the Center’s staff team or by coordinating additional outside help, as needed. These actions include the collection of benchmarking information and program data as well as partnering with the School’s Marketing & Communications team on the branding and content of the Centers website(s), social media accounts, and printed material. Work with the Center’s Directors and staff to maintain and develop contact management system for industry alumni and the Center’s contacts, targeted email campaigns, event invitations, and social media communications.
Advisory Board/Council
  • Work with the Directors to help develop, maintain, and expand Council membership for the center, with a particular focus on enhancing relationships across other McCombs’ centers, and the contributions by Council members. Manage Advisory Council communications.
  • Support identifying, recruiting, and retaining Advisory Council members, using faculty, staff, and existing Advisory Council members at the Center.
  • Help develop relationships with current and prospective Advisory Council members for the Center. Coordinate membership efforts, working with current members, and the Center’s administrative staff. Regularly meet with current and prospective Advisory Council members, industry contacts, students, and others locally, regionally, and nationally. It is not anticipated that the position will require significant travel.
Student Programs
  • Work with center faculty to create and oversee student-related events for recruiting and cocurricular learning opportunities, including coordination with the Center’s Advisory Council, the advisory councils of other McCombs’ centers, and faculty, as needed.
  • Help identify opportunities for students to participate in case competitions.

Support the Department of Finance and associated centers with implementation of student programs, events, and other strategic activities.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and five years of experience coordinating programs and/or events, both large and small.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Previous success managing multiple projects, assessing work priorities, and as well as regular ability in meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with software, especially MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and comfort learning new technologies.
  • Previous experience developing and implementing initiatives, programs and/or services for a varied set of clients.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of programs and innovate new ideas for continuous improvement.

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work experience within higher education and/or a master’s degree in business administration, higher education administration or a related field.
  • Previous experience within private equity and/or a related financial services field.
  • Working knowledge of UT policies and procedures.
Salary
  • $55,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
  • Works in standard office conditions, in a shared office environment with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods and special events.
