Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Cardiology Research Sr. Program Coordinator to provide strategic and operational leadership for cardiovascular research initiatives.

This role ensures the development, implementation, and oversight of clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, and research programs, coordinating among investigators, regulatory teams, sponsors, and leadership. Responsibilities include managing study portfolios, timelines, budgets, regulatory submissions, and performance metrics,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, health care or science-related field with a minimum of 2 years of research-related experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree/college Diploma/Certificate Program with 5 years of experience in clinical research/related field OR HS Diploma with at least 7 years of clinical research coordination/related experience may be considered.
  • Broad-based management or project management experience is preferred to coordinate a wide range of activities.
  • Working knowledge of clinical research, research programs, data management, and computer/related systems are required.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and problem-solving skills as well as demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines, i.e., physician, administrative, supervisory, and allied health staff, and external agencies is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for cardiovascular research initiatives under the direction of the Cardiology Chair, ensuring successful development, implementation, and oversight of clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, and research programs.
  • Serve as a key liaison among investigators, research coordinators, regulatory teams, sponsors, and institutional leadership to advance high-quality, compliant, and impactful research.
  • Manage study portfolios including federal, industry and internal awards, oversee project timelines and budgets, and coordinate regulatory submissions.
  • Monitor program performance metrics and identify opportunities for growth and collaboration.
  • Perform duties independently and initiate judgment in handling a variety of programmatic issues.
  • Travel to Mayo Clinic Health System campuses as needed.

Responsibilities

The Cardiology Research Sr. Program Coordinator provides strategic and operational leadership for cardiovascular research initiatives under the direction of the MCHS Cardiology Chair, ensuring the successful development, implementation, and oversight of clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, and research programs. This role serves as a key liaison among investigators, research coordinators, regulatory teams, sponsors, and institutional leadership to advance high-quality, compliant, and impactful research. Responsibilities include managing study portfolios including federal, industry and internal awards, overseeing project timelines and budgets, coordinating regulatory submissions, monitoring program performance metrics, and identifying opportunities for growth and collaboration. Through effective project management, stakeholder engagement, and process improvement, the Cardiology Research Sr. Program Coordinator supports the generation of innovative research that improves patient outcomes, expands access to clinical trials, and advances the organization’s academic and research mission. Performs duties independently and initiates judgment in handling a variety of programmatic issues. Additional job specific duties as assigned by reporting work unit leadership.

  • Will have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Travel (as needed) to other Mayo Clinic Health System campuses (MN/WI).
Qualifications
