Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Senior Extrusion Process Engineer to provide technical leadership for plastic profile extrusion operations in Lockport, IL. You will optimize processes, troubleshoot challenges, and drive improvements in productivity, scrap reduction, and process capability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5+ years of hands on plastics extrusion experience.
• Strong understanding of profile extrusion processes.
• Experience optimizing and troubleshooting extrusion processes.
• Experience developing process recipes, parameters, and operating conditions.
• Knowledge of extrusion tooling, dies, and tool construction.
• Strong root cause analysis and problem solving capabilities.
• Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments.
• Ability to work cross functionally with engineering, quality, maintenance, and production teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction and process improvement for plastic profile extrusion operations.
• Troubleshoot extrusion processes and resolve manufacturing, quality, and equipment issues.
• Develop and optimize extrusion process parameters and process recipes.
• Design, develop, and implement profile extrusion tooling and dies.
• Validate new tooling, processes, equipment, and material changes.
• Analyze production and test data to improve process capability and material specifications.
• Partner with product engineering, manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and operations on new product introductions.
• Identify opportunities to improve OEE, throughput, productivity, quality, and scrap.
• Evaluate auxiliary equipment and recommend improvements to extrusion operations.
• Lead or support capital equipment projects including equipment evaluation, justification, implementation, and validation.
• Research emerging extrusion technologies and contribute to longer term manufacturing strategies.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to production teams.
