Job summary

Albany Medical Center seeks a Senior Professional Coder to lead the professional coding team, auditing CPT and ICD-10 codes and guiding staff for compliant, efficient charging and denials follow-up.

The role emphasizes education, HIPAA compliance, and collaboration across workflows to ensure timely and accurate billing, including HCC/Risk adjustment coding expertise. Remote with onsite education as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
• Two years or more prior experience in professional fee coding required.
• Knowledge of multiple coding specialties preferred.
• Working knowledge of provider professional fee coding and charge processing; proficiency in Windows environments (Word/Excel) required.
• CPC, CCA, CCS, COC, RHIT, or RHIA required.

Responsibilities

• Review CPT and ICD-10 codes for compliance with regulations and guidelines; ensure productivity and quality standards.
• Assist Supervisor in daily coding team operations; support team leadership responsibilities.
• Substitute for Supervisor in their absence and perform supervisory tasks as needed.
• Perform accurate and compliant CPT/ICD-10 coding.
• Develop and submit coding/edit rules to improve accuracy and efficiency across systems.
• Participate in application testing, script building, and testing across systems.
