Qualifications

• Required professional coding credentials: AAPC CPC, COC, PMI CMC or AHIMA CCS-P/CCS/RHIA/RHIT/CCA.
• Minimum three years of coding experience with surgical practice exposure.
• One year of coding experience and current AAPC specialty surgical certification as outlined.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts, analyzes, and assigns CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes for professional services in the medical record.
• Meets department productivity and accuracy standards.
• Acts as a subject matter resource to physicians for complex procedures.
• Evaluates coding denials and drafts appeal letters for Denial Management.
• Identifies trends in code changes and payer denials to inform leadership.
