Job summary

EvergreenHealth in Kirkland, WA is seeking a Certified Coder-ProFee I to abstract, analyze, and assign CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes for professional services. You will resolve denials, communicate with physicians, and help maintain coding quality and integrity.

The role requires a minimum of three years of coding experience, a professional coding credential, and strong communication skills. Eligible for comprehensive benefits and professional growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current professional coding credential: CPC/COC/CMC or CCS/CCS-P or RHIA/RHIT/CCA.
• Minimum three years of coding experience, including one year in a surgical practice.
• Satisfactory completion of coding skills assessment.
• Proficient knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding conventions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Within one year from hire: one of the specified AAPC surgical certifications.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts, analyzes, and assigns CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes for professional services based on documentation in the medical record.
• Meets department productivity and accuracy standards.
• Serves as a subject matter resource to physicians for complex surgical procedures.
• Evaluates coding denials and drafts appeal letters for Denial Management.
• Identifies and reports trends of code changes, payer denials, missed revenue opportunities and compliance risks.
• Communicates documentation improvement opportunities to physicians and clinic leadership.
• Provides coverage and backup for other coders as necessary to meet organizational goals.
