Job summary

Berkley Luxury Group seeks a Senior Production Underwriter to join our underwriting team. This role can be located in OH, IL, or MD/DC on a remote basis, reporting to the Director of Underwriting.

You will profitably grow a book of business by partnering with brokers and coordinating with colleagues across the organization. You will plan and budget the book, develop agency relationships, and execute underwriting decisions using authority and guidelines while staying current on insurance laws and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job-related experience.
• Minimum 5 years underwriting experience.
• Technical underwriting expertise in Property, Liability, Auto and Umbrella.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal, communication & negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing.
• Solid knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with internal/external partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for new and renewal underwriting execution, including selecting risks in line with BLG’s strategy and underwriting guidelines, operating within authority and documentation guidelines.
• Planning and budgeting for the book of business, tracking and reporting performance to plan, and developing a view of market conditions.
• Provides guidance and assistance to other underwriters and to other functional areas.
• Monitors production, hit ratios, renewal retention ratios, spread of risk and other production and quality measures.
• Keeps current on state/territory issues, regulations and trends.
