Job summary

Mesa Water District is seeking a Senior Operator - Production to serve as the district’s water production system expert. You will perform the most complex duties, including maintenance, testing, and repairs to ensure uninterrupted potable water supply.

You will lead staff, oversee inspections, adjust chemical feeds, manage SCADA operations, and prepare production reports. Four years of related experience and SWRCB certifications are required; a valid CA driver’s license is needed.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade, supplemented by vocational or technical training in water utility science, water distribution infrastructure maintenance and repair practices, mechanical maintenance and repair practices, or construction inspection.
• Four years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water production infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plans, trains, and reviews the work of staff responsible for operation of the District’s water production facilities and related equipment.
• Oversee inspections of well and reservoir sites, read meters, calculate chemical usage, and check pumps for proper operation.
• Adjust chemical feed pumps and calibrate dosages based on test results; manage chemical deliveries and storage.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain water production equipment including pumps, engines, valves, and membranes.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pump engines, motors, and gear heads; service batteries and lubricate moving parts.
• Operate and maintain the SCADA system and related control equipment; monitor and respond to alarms and data logs.
• Prepare statistical reports and data analyses of production activities.
