Role Description The Senior Production / Engineering Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in San Marcos, CA. This role involves assembling, testing, and calibrating laser systems and subsystems, including Helium Neon and solid-state light sources. The technician will interpret engineering drawings and specifications, perform component-level troubleshooting, and use test equipment to verify performance and reliability. Daily responsibilities include soldering and wiring, documenting test results, collaborating with engineering on design improvements, and supporting root-cause analysis for production issues. The role also includes maintaining production equipment, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and contributing to process optimization and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills for interpreting test data, diagnosing issues, and supporting process improvements.
  • Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for collaborating with engineering, production teams, and documenting technical findings.
  • Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting abilities for identifying, isolating, and resolving electronic and optical system problems.
  • Candidates should possess proficient Soldering skills for assembling and reworking electronic components to industry standards.
  • Candidates should possess experience using Test Equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, and optical measurement tools.
  • Relevant experience in electronics or electro-optical manufacturing, preferably with lasers or similar precision systems.
  • Knowledge of basic optics, laser safety practices, and ESD handling procedures is beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, photonics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Ability to work safely in a lab and production environment, lift moderate loads, and perform fine, detailed work with consistency.
