Job summary

nLIGHT, based in Camas, Washington, is seeking Manufacturing Technicians to operate automated production tools and support high-volume laser component manufacturing. You will troubleshoot equipment, collect data, and ensure safety and quality while following standard procedures.

You will collaborate with process engineering on continuous improvements, utilize lean and Six Sigma concepts, and participate in maintenance and tool-down reduction efforts.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating automated production tools in high-volume settings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues and document status.
  • Fundamental knowledge of PCVD technology and electronic signal controls.
  • Comfort with using common hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork.
  • Follow OCAP and complete Litmos training.

  • Load, operate and maintain automated production tools to meet quality and throughput targets.

Manufacturing Technicians are responsible for operating and sustaining equipment in high volume production, troubleshooting process and equipment issues, continuous improvement activities related to process and equipment and support of Production. Will enable next generation components and systems related to semiconductor diodes lasers, optics, and fiber coupled devices.

C Thursday-Saturday bi-Wednesday 5A-5:15P

Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Reporting to Manufacturing, load, operate and maintain automated production tools, ensuring high quality, throughput and utilization.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, perform routine data collection, and effectively communicate the status of tools and proposed solutions.
  • Help define and execute routine process equipment maintenance and calibrations.
  • Work collaboratively with process engineering to manage specific processes and assist in defining and executing continuous process improvements with a focus on projects that reduce PM or tool down durations, improve safety/ergonomics, and reduce tool interruptions.
  • Support engineering in documenting processes in Prototype and High-volume lines.
  • Drive continuous improvement opportunities utilizing wide variety of analytical techniques (such as SPC, DOE, Gage R&R), lean manufacturing, and six sigma concepts.
  • Perform manufacturing builds and other production tasks as needed to meet production goals.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as an MSIII or 1+ years of experience in high volume production environment working with electronics, semiconductor equipment, or opto-mechanical assemblies, as a technician
  • Ability to acquire job skills and learn company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of PCVD technology and electronic signal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to use common hand tools such as multimeters and other tools necessary for performing in the role.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good computer skills and comfortable learning new tools and processes
  • Able to follow prescribed OCAP for the issue.
  • Complete all assigned Litmos courses.
  • Ability to perform routine mechanical tasks. Ability to use tools and power equipment in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to read and work from sketches, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Ability to work as a team member and share skills.
  • Good communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ensures clean, safe, and organized work areas.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to regularly work on the production floor.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during the assigned shift.
  • Ability to wear required cleanroom garments and personal protective equipment, including laser safety eyewear, for extended periods.
  • Ability to use a computer and perform repetitive keyboard and data-entry tasks.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Starting pay depends on qualifications:
  • Manufacturing Technician I - $22.93 to $28.70 per hour
  • Manufacturing Technician II -$24.45 to $31.80 per hour
Other Compensation and Benefits
  • Shift differentials are paid at the rate of 10% for hours worked between 5:30PM and 12:00AM and at 15% for hours worked between 12:00AM and 5:30AM
  • Target Cash Bonus with potential payout of up to 2% of earned wages
  • 120 hours of paid Vacation per year, plus paid Sick Leave and 10 paid Holidays
