A leading chemical manufacturing site is seeking a highly experienced Senior Production Engineer to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement. The role involves technical leadership, ensuring safety compliance, and enhancing plant efficiency through troubleshooting and team coordination, all while actively participating in emergency response activities.
Summary:
A leading chemical manufacturing site is seeking a highly experienced Senior Production Engineer to support daily operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the production units. The successful candidate will contribute to plant reliability and efficiency through troubleshooting, process optimization, and coordination with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams. The position also plays an active role in the site's emergency response efforts, including hazmat, fire brigade, and confined space rescue. This role reports directly to the site's Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as technical lead for assigned production units, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
Analyze plant data, monitor unit performance, and document findings to identify opportunities for improvement.
Lead and implement process improvement initiatives that enhance throughput, efficiency, and safety.
Support the upkeep of critical process safety documentation including procedures, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
Plan and coordinate routine and preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Collaborate with project engineering on new installations, technology upgrades, and product introductions.
Investigate and resolve technical issues affecting unit operations.
Provide operational training and support to plant personnel.
Participate actively in emergency response teams including fire brigade, hazardous materials handling, and confined space rescue.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; Chemical Engineering preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical manufacturing with a focus on production operations and technical leadership.
Proven experience in project execution, including start-up and commissioning of new processes or equipment.
Expertise in chemical unit operations such as reaction engineering, heat and mass transfer, distillation, and fluid dynamics.
Direct involvement in PSM/RMP environments, including leading or supporting Process Hazard Analyses, MOC, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
Strong background in process safety and compliance in high-hazard manufacturing settings.
Demonstrated history of cost reduction and production optimization.
Key Skills:
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Strong communication and interpersonal leadership capabilities
High proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP/CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Maximo)
Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and process documentation
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a high-pressure environment
