Job summary

Waymo LLC is seeking a senior communications professional to lead strategic media relations and product announcements across the US. You will translate engineering progress into compelling stories for press, tech audiences, and the public, while supporting leaders with talking points and interview prep.

Role requires deep experience in communications, a proven ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams, and a track record of managing multiple launches in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of communications experience in-house or agency.
• Proven track record in media relations and interfacing with journalists.
• Experience developing comms plans for product launches and technical announcements.
• Ability to translate engineering detail for AI reporters and mass audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple launches in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative work with Legal and Safety teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute communications plans for product and technology announcements, from launches to milestones.
• Translate complex engineering work into clear stories for press, technical audiences, and the public.
• Own spokesperson support for Product and Engineering leaders, including talking points and interview prep.
• Build and maintain relationships with reporters and outlets; pitch stories and manage inquiries.
• Support rapid response with reactive statements and escalation as needed.
• Write and edit blog posts, press releases, technical explainers, and social copy with high accuracy.
