Job summary

Cohere is hiring a Senior Product Security Engineer to work with engineers on secure AI-powered products, review architecture and code, model threats, and build durable security practices across teams. You will test, validate fixes, and help define secure defaults while collaborating with product leaders and engineers.

Applicants should have strong software engineering skills, be proficient in Python/Go/TypeScript, and have led security reviews or threat models for complex systems.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals; able to test production code.
• Proficient in Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Led security reviews or threat models for complex production systems.
• Understand common vulnerability classes and their design failures.
• Understand modern app architecture including web apps, APIs, OAuth/OIDC, cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Lead security reviews; review architecture, code, and changes; identify vulnerabilities and recurring patterns.
• Secure AI-powered products by evaluating risks like prompt injection, data exposure, tenant isolation, and sandbox escapes.
• Threat model new capabilities; translate findings into mitigations.
• Perform hands-on testing; develop PoCs; assess exploitability and impact.
• Build scalable guardrails; develop secure defaults and automated checks.
• Strengthen engineering capability; document guidance; help product teams build security expertise.
• Influence risk decisions; explain findings and remediation options to engineers and executives.
