Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a Senior Compliance Engineer - Safety for its Kansas City HQ or Cary, NC, or Phoenix, AZ locations.

The role ensures Garmin products meet safety requirements for global markets and collaborates with development teams to identify and address hazards early in design. The candidate will lead safety reviews, coordinate pre-compliance testing, work with accredited labs, and drive regulatory documentation to support certifications across regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, or related field; 5+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination
• Experience performing or supporting compliance testing
• Experience with product safety testing and country certifications or homologations
• Ability to explain and document regulatory and standards requirements
• Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop regulatory, certification and market access requirements for Garmin products in development
• Develop compliance plans supporting product development schedules and global market access
• Lead safety design review meetings and participate in design reviews
• Coordinate and oversee pre-compliance testing to identify safety issues before formal certification
• Work with 3rd party labs to execute Garmin’s compliance strategies
• Troubleshoot compliance failures and implement corrective actions with design teams
• Review test reports and Declarations of Conformity for accuracy
• Communicate regulatory topics clearly to engineering teams and management
• Serve as a subject matter expert on product safety compliance
• Support leadership to improve compliance processes and guidelines
• Contribute to regulatory and standards research on new technologies and markets
• Mentor less experienced engineers
• Demonstrate Garmin values and collaborative engineering culture
