Join to apply for the Senior Product Manager, Technical SEO role at Scribd, Inc.

At Scribd (pronounced “scribbed”), our mission is to spark human curiosity. Join our team as we create a world of stories and knowledge, democratize the exchange of ideas and information, and empower collective expertise through our three products: Everand, Scribd, and Slideshare.

We support a culture where our employees can be real and be bold; where we debate and commit as we embrace plot twists; and where every employee is empowered to take action as we prioritize the customer.

When it comes to workplace structure, we believe in balancing individual flexibility and community connections. It’s through our flexible work benefit, Scribd Flex, that employees – in partnership with their manager – can choose the daily work-style that best suits their individual needs. A key tenet of Scribd Flex is our prioritization of intentional in-person moments to build collaboration, culture, and connection. For this reason, occasional in-person attendance is required for all Scribd employees, regardless of their location.

So what are we looking for in new team members? Well, we hire for “GRIT”. The textbook definition of GRIT is demonstrating the intersection of passion and perseverance towards long term goals. At Scribd, we are inspired by the potential that this can unlock, and ask each of our employees to pursue a GRIT-ty approach to their work. In a tactical sense, GRIT is also a handy acronym that outlines the standards we hold ourselves and each other to. Here’s what that means for you: we’re looking for someone who showcases the ability to set and achieve Goals, achieve Results within their job responsibilities, contribute Innovative ideas and solutions, and positively influence the broader Team through collaboration and attitude.

We seek a results-driven Senior Product Manager specializing in Technical SEO to join our team. This role will focus on optimizing organic search performance and managing websites with over 50 million URLs.

The ideal candidate excels at using data to set priorities and measure outcomes, understands customer needs, and stays ahead of SEO industry trends.

About You

  • You are a highly organized, customer-centric Senior Product Manager with experience in SEO. You love reading and want to help more people discover Scribd’s unique offering on Google.
  • You excel at clarifying and simplifying complex concepts and ideas, with the ability to communicate effectively to stakeholders with varying degrees of knowledge of your domain.
  • You view your role as a cross-functional partner. You understand that your work doesn’t stop after requirements are written, and you work with your team through execution.
  • You don’t differentiate between SEO experiences for bots vs. users - understanding that anything you put on a page has user impact.

You Will

  • Own the SEO product roadmap, balancing technical improvements with content opportunities.
  • Oversee and manage the technical aspects of our SEO strategy, including but not limited to website architecture, link-building strategies, metadata, structured data, XML sitemaps and website speed optimization.
  • Partner with SEO engineering to implement scalable, high-impact SEO solutions.
  • Perform regular SEO audits to identify areas of improvement and strategize on feasible solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, engineering, and data analysis to implement SEO best practices throughout product development.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to recommend and implement innovative SEO techniques that will increase organic traffic, improve ranking positions, and drive user acquisition.
  • Educate internal stakeholders on the importance of SEO, sharing updates on algorithm changes, industry trends, and competitor strategies.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on SEO KPIs (e.g., crawl errors, site performance, rankings, traffic, and conversions).

You Have

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Product Manager or a similar role with at least 3 focused on technical SEO for a platform with substantial web content (50 million+ URLs).
  • Experience with taking a customer-centric approach to SEO – improving quality for users while achieving business goals.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, and other industry SEO and analytics tools.
  • Deep understanding of SEO guidelines, algorithms, ranking signals, and search engine updates.
  • Strong technical understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side factors.
  • Hands-on knowledge of complex crawl & log file analysis, site information / URL architecture optimization, core web vitals, site speed optimization, and advanced structured data implementation.
  • Experience with SEO crawling software (e.g. Botify, Deepcrawl) and rank tracking (e.g. Conductor, Brightedge)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of international SEO and managing multi-language or multi-region sites.
  • Hands-on experience with site migrations.
  • Familiarity with the tech subscription market for ebooks, audiobooks, and other media is a plus.
