We're in this together, tackling big challenges with bold ideas and genuine care. We look for curious minds and courageous collaborators who bring sun-drenched optimism and drive. Whether you're building smarter solutions, supporting customers, or creating a space where everyone belongs, you'll do meaningful work with Workmates who've got your back. In return, we'll give you the trust to take risks, the tools to grow, the skills to develop and the support of a company invested in you for the long haul. So, if you want to inspire a brighter work day for everyone, including yourself, you've found a match in Workday, and we hope to be a match for you too.

About the Team

As part of Workday's HCM and WFM Engineering organization, this team builds the APIs, frameworks, and data standards that power Agent Ready Tools for first-party and third-party agents. We make it possible for teams across the company to access and build on our data at scale through Data Cloud, Headless Consumption, and Workday Build. If you care about data access, developer experience, and building tools other teams rely on every day, you'll feel right at home here.

About the Role

As a Senior Product Manager on this team, you will own key parts of the roadmap for our API platform and data standards, working across engineering, product, and business teams to drive clarity on priorities and turn strategy into action. You'll take on more ambiguous, higher-impact problems and help set the direction other product managers and engineers build toward.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deepen the team's understanding of the API platform's capabilities, direction, and roadmap.

  • Shape the roadmap by identifying and prioritizing the customer and business outcomes that matter most.

  • Lead alignment with product managers, engineers, and business partners to clarify requirements and set priorities.

  • Build and apply frameworks that assess the value, urgency, and importance of platform features.

  • Own intake from multiple teams, making sure requests are understood, documented, and evaluated against priorities.

  • Translate product direction into clear requirements, user stories, success measures, and delivery plans.

  • Partner with engineering to guide iterative delivery, validation, and testing.

  • Communicate roadmap updates, insights, and trade-offs to teams across the business and to product leadership.

  • Partner across engineering, go-to-market, and other Workday teams to drive successful delivery and adoption.

  • Use customer feedback and usage data to shape planning and prioritization.

  • Guide go-to-market readiness by clarifying product value, positioning, and customer impact.

API & Developer Experience (DX)

  • API Design & Standards: Working knowledge of RESTful principles, GraphQL, gRPC, and event-driven architectures (e.g., Webhooks, Kafka/PubSub). Familiarity with the OpenAPI Specification (Swagger) and API design-first workflows.

  • Developer Experience (DX): Ability to treat internal and external engineers as end customers—defining documentation standards, SDKs, sandboxes, onboarding flows, and self-service key/token provisioning.

  • Lifecycle & Versioning Strategy: Experience defining deprecation schedules, backwards compatibility, breaking-change management, and migration paths across API versions.

  • API Governance & Monetization: Familiarity with API gateway capabilities (Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway), rate limiting, throttling, role-based access control (RBAC), quota management, and API consumption-based pricing models.
