About the Role

VelaFi is seeking a Senior Product Manager, Financial Systems, to lead the development of scalable, automated, client-facing financial reporting capabilities across our cross-border payments platform. Today, clients can access their transaction history, but many of the reports they need for accounting, reconciliation, treasury, and ERP workflows are still generated manually.

We want to change that.

You will own the technical product design and delivery of reporting solutions that transform underlying transaction, payment, FX, settlement, and balance data into accurate, automated financial reports and integrations.

This is not a traditional product management role focused solely on requirements and roadmaps. We are looking for someone with strong technical depth who can understand financial data structures, define reporting logic, work directly with APIs and databases, and partner closely with Engineering to deliver production-ready solutions.

• English: Native or professional working proficiency required.
• Chinese (Mandarin) and/or Spanish: Professional working proficiency strongly preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across the United States, Latin America, and Asia.

What You'll Do

Technical Product Ownership

• Own the product roadmap and delivery of client-facing financial reporting capabilities.
• Partner with clients, Finance, Treasury, Operations, Product, and Engineering to identify reporting requirements and operational challenges.
• Translate financial reporting needs into functional specifications, technical requirements, data-flow diagrams, and clear acceptance criteria.
• Define reporting features, data structures, calculations, filters, transaction classifications, and business rules.
• Prioritize development based on client needs, operational impact, scalability, and technical complexity.
• Analyze transaction-level data across payments, FX, settlement, balances, and fees.
• Design financial reporting logic that accurately reflects transaction lifecycles, exchange rates, conversions, settlement movements, and account balances.
• Define reconciliation logic to identify mismatches, missing transactions, incorrect balances, and reporting exceptions.
• Ensure financial reports can be reconciled to underlying transaction records and relevant ledger or settlement data.
• Support reporting requirements for multi-currency transactions, accounting periods, and cross-border financial operations.
• Work closely with Engineering and Data teams to design and implement scalable reporting services, APIs, data models, and integrations.
• Use SQL and technical analysis to investigate transaction data, validate calculations, and troubleshoot reporting discrepancies.
• Define API specifications, data mappings, integration requirements, and export formats for ERP and accounting systems.
• Partner with engineers on backend reporting logic, data pipelines, automation, and system performance.
• Support integration testing, user acceptance testing, production validation, and defect resolution.
• Troubleshoot production reporting issues and prioritize fixes based on financial accuracy and client impact.
• Identify reporting processes currently requiring manual intervention and convert them into automated workflows.
• Improve reporting accuracy, consistency, availability, and scalability.
• Develop repeatable reporting capabilities across currencies, jurisdictions, clients, and payment products.
• Document financial calculations, reporting rules, system dependencies, and operational procedures.
• Establish reporting quality standards and measurable performance indicators.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in technical product management, product engineering, financial systems, software engineering, or financial data products.
• Experience within fintech, payments, banking, FX, treasury technology, accounting technology, ERP, or financial infrastructure.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases and complex financial datasets.
• Working knowledge of backend systems, APIs, data modeling, data pipelines, and system integrations.
• Ability to translate financial requirements into detailed technical specifications and implementation-ready solutions.
• Strong understanding of financial reconciliation, transaction processing, settlement, balances, fees, and reporting controls.
• Familiarity with ERP and accounting workflows, including financial data exports, general ledger mapping, and month-end reporting.
• Experience collaborating directly with engineers on technical architecture, implementation, testing, and production support.
• Experience leading technical projects from requirements through launch.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to financial accuracy.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, Finance teams, engineers, and senior stakeholders.

Within the first 6–12 months, success will be demonstrated by:

• Delivering automated financial reports that replace key manual reporting workflows.
• Enabling clients to independently access accurate transaction, FX, settlement, and reconciliation data.
• Improving the accuracy and consistency of financial reporting.
• Reducing manual reporting requests and operational effort.
• Delivering standardized exports and integration capabilities compatible with client ERP and accounting workflows.
• Establishing a scalable reporting foundation that supports new markets, currencies, clients, and payment products.
