This role defines the product strategy, engages partners, mentors junior staff, and may grow into people management in a player-coach model. It focuses on business and financial acumen, not technology.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of product experience.
  • 5 years with the software lifecycle.
  • 3 years of advanced domain experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, mathematics or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a holistic product vision and strategy to drive value.
  • Anticipate future needs using metrics and qualitative input to identify improvements.
  • Represent the product in governance meetings and align stakeholders.
  • Set and communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments, and decisions clearly.
  • Own the product backlog and refresh priorities with internal and partner input.
  • Coach and guide team members on vision and strategic road mapping.
  • Drive cross-product and cross-customer value and shared learnings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Product Manager, Cost and Coverage owns the end-to-end financial front door for members from understanding the cost of care to collecting payment from members upfront or providing financing options where needed, and ensuring the post-encounter Explanation of Benefits is simple and accurately matches the cost estimate provided. This role defines the product strategy, vision, and value proposition of Highmark’s cost transparency and coverage experiences. The ideal candidate outlines the strategic vision and business case, gains alignment and support from key strategic partners and stakeholders, and oversees execution of that vision, while also coaching and guiding junior team members.

This role is currently envisioned as a “player-coach model” to 3 other product managers/analysts with growth potential into formal people management.

This is a business product development role, not a technology product role. Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to independently develop business cases is required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understand the department's and the company's strategic roadmap and competitive position, and develop a holistic product vision and the corresponding product strategy to drive maximum value.

  • Actively anticipate future needs and utilize metrics and qualitative input to identify asset improvement opportunities.

  • Represent the product in all governance meetings.

  • Clearly set and communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments, and decisions across audiences, from product team to executive levels.

  • Serve as accountable owner for the sets of products/tools within the designated portfolio

  • Identify and drive both cross-product and cross-customer value and shared learnings.

  • Own the product backlog and use input from internal and partner teams to frequently refresh and re-prioritize the backlog.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to team members on product vision and strategic road mapping.

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

EXPERIENCE
Required
  • 5 years of Product experience

To include:

  • 5 years with the Software Lifecycle

  • 3 years of Advanced domain experience

SKILLS

EDUCATION
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, mathematics or related field OR relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree.
Preferred
  • Experience coaching and developing 1-3 product managers/analysts

  • Health plan price transparency knowledge, including but not limited to Machine Readable Files

$102,700.00

Pay Range Maximum:

$164,600.00

Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations.
