Job summary

LanceDB seeks a senior product leader to drive strategic direction for our AI-native data platform. You will shape the product roadmap with the CTO and engineering leadership, deep-dive into competitors and users, and translate insights into concrete product changes.

You’ll talk to users regularly, guide cross-team prioritization, and collaborate closely with engineering as a technically respected peer. Deep knowledge of data platforms and AI research users is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years as a software engineer or in a highly technical product role.
• Shipped and iterated on products end-to-end.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms (databases, data infra, ML/AI systems).
• Understanding of the AI researcher persona and pain points.
• Regular engagement with users (interviews, support, design partners, or community).
• Ownership of ambiguous projects with minimal guidance.
• Experience influencing or driving roadmap/prioritization decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to align across teams.
• Comfortable using data (metrics, experiments, usage) to guide decisions.
• Experience contributing to or working with open source communities.
