Job summary

LanceDB is seeking a senior product leader to shape the roadmap for a data-centric platform used by researchers and engineers. You will translate high-level directions into deliberate product outcomes, collaborating with CTO and engineering leadership to drive outcomes that improve the LanceDB platform for its ICP.

You will regularly converse with users, analyze competitors, and stay close to adjacent technologies.

Qualifications

• 10+ years as a software engineer or technical product leader
• Shipped and iterated on products end-to-end
• Experience on large-scale data platforms (databases, data infra, ML/AI)
• Understands AI researcher persona and success metrics
• Regularly engages with users via interviews, support, or partners
• Proven ownership of ambiguous projects with limited guidance
• Influences or drives roadmap and prioritization decisions
• Strong written and verbal communication across teams
• Comfort using data (metrics, experiments, usage) to guide decisions
• Experience contributing to/open-source communities

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years as a software engineer or in a highly technical product role

• Shipped and iterated on products end-to-end

• Experience working on large-scale data platforms (e.g., databases, data infra, ML/AI systems)

• Understanding of AI researcher persona - what success looks like for them, what are their pain points, what increases their happiness

• Regularly engaged with users (interviews, support, design partners, or community)

• Demonstrated ownership of ambiguous projects with minimal guidance

• Experience influencing or driving roadmap / prioritization decisions

• Strong written and verbal communication (can drive alignment across teams)

• Comfortable using data (metrics, experiments, usage) to guide decisions
