Our client is a venture-backed technology platform building an AI-native operating system for materials science R&D, supported by top-tier investment firms and used by enterprise research teams across 30+ countries. In this role, you will take full 0-to-1 ownership of a brand-new synthetic chemistry product area, taking a nascent beta directly through rapid customer iteration loops to achieve true product-market fit. Working closely with scientists and cross-functional teams, you will turn complex R&D requirements into intuitive, consumer-grade workflow tools while contributing to broader platform capabilities and supporting pre-sales engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Execution: Own the end-to-end strategy and roadmap for a new synthetic chemistry product area. Iterate rapidly on live beta releases, gather real-time customer feedback, and drive toward product-market fit.
- Deep Customer Empathy & User Research: Conduct hands-on research alongside scientists, chief science officers, and enterprise R&D teams to uncover latent pain points and translate findings into streamlined product features.
- Cross-Functional Design & AI Collaboration: Partner tightly with engineering and design teams to build pixel-perfect interfaces. Hands-on prototyping using modern AI and design tools (e.g., Claude, Figma) to give detailed design feedback and deliver consumer-grade polish.
- Go-To-Market & Pre-Sales Engagement: Partner with GTM teams to introduce and demo the product roadmap to enterprise buyers, chief science officers, and emerging customer segments.
- Platform Scalability (~20% of time): Contribute to broader platform-level architecture by identifying high-value capabilities within your synthetic chemistry domain that can be generalized across core applications.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 4 to 7 years of product management experience, preferably in B2B enterprise SaaS, complex workflow tools, life sciences, or deep-tech/AI environments.
- 0-to-1 Mindset: Proven track record of taking early-stage/beta products through rapid customer iteration loops to find product-market fit.
- Product Sense & UI/UX Excellence: Obsessed with simplicity, user empathy, and micro-interactions. Experience with Figma, Claude, or similar modern visual and AI prototyping tools.
- Technical Depth: Ability to collaborate seamlessly with senior engineering teams on architectural and platform-level considerations.
- Autonomy & Drive: High ownership, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and capable of balancing conflicting stakeholder voices (e.g., end-user scientists vs. executive buyers).
What Our Client Offers
- Competitive Compensation: Base salary ranging from $240,000 to $280,000 per year.
- Equity: Meaningful, competitive equity package in a high-growth platform.
- Flexibility: Hybrid work arrangement (1–3 days/week in-office in San Francisco, CA).
- Impact: High-visibility ownership role at a critical scaling stage backed by top-tier venture funds.
