Job summary

AMF Bakery Systems is seeking a Product Engineer - Mechanical to design, develop, and support equipment throughout its lifecycle. You will perform hands-on mechanical engineering, own new product development, standard configurations, and custom projects.

Collaborate with Product Management, Electrical and Controls, Manufacturing, and Service to translate customer needs into reliable, manufacturable solutions; travel up to 25% for on-site work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an associate's degree with at least five years of relevant experience.
• Significant machine and mechanism design experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or Inventor, and working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings, BOMs, equipment layouts, and technical documentation.
• Ability to evaluate design tradeoffs involving product performance, manufacturability, cost, installation, and serviceability.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to manage development work and project commitments concurrently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to work effectively across engineering and operational teams.
• Experience with automated food processing or bakery equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define product requirements and development priorities based on customer needs.
• Develop mechanical concepts and detailed designs, including calculations, component sizing and selection, and layouts.
• Coordinate with Electrical and Controls Engineering to integrate mechanical designs with automation and machine controls.
• Plan and support prototype builds, testing, and design reviews; verify performance, safety, and serviceability before release.
• Support the transition from development to standard production with released drawings, BOMs, technical documentation, and production readiness checklists.
• Review and close engineering punch list items and incorporate improvements into standard products.
• Provide remote or on-site support for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
