Job summary

Retool, Inc. is seeking a product engineer to own the architectural foundations of how millions of apps are built, loaded, and persisted at Retool, touching core product used by thousands of companies daily.

You will work on features across the stack in a TypeScript + Node.js + React environment, collaborate with product and design, and help recruit future engineers while maintaining a customer-first approach and strong engineering fundamentals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in full stack web development, with strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills.
• Experience owning technically challenging, cross-functional projects.
• Experience working with product managers and designers.
• An eye for product: cares how features work and feel.
• Ability to make technical decisions quickly while looping in stakeholders.
• Customer-first mindset and comfort talking with customers to align needs.
• Habit of introspection and learning from past success.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end projects that improve Retool’s core Apps product offering.
• Collaborate with the team to strengthen architectural foundations of apps built on Retool.
• Meet with internal partners to understand customer needs and work with product on features.
• Improve scalability and performance of Retool’s platform.
• Debug and fix customer problems.
• Help recruit future engineers.
