Job summary

Consumer Reports is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to lead the AskCR chatbot and AI-driven features across our website, mobile app, and other digital surfaces. This remote role reports to the Director of Web Development within the Experimental Engineering team, emphasizing maintainable architecture and strong release discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in web and mobile development frameworks (React, React Native).
• Strong proficiency in building APIs with Python (e.g. FastAPI).
• Experience with multi-platform software development and integration, delivering production applications.
• Best practices for CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and debugging.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for leading complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical planning, architecture, and implementation for AskCR multi-platform initiatives.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and engineering to align technical strategy with user needs.
• Coordinate cross-team engineering efforts and manage releases.
• Establish and uphold CI/CD, monitoring, and debugging best practices across platforms.
• Mentor and guide engineering team members to foster growth and leadership.
