Job summary

Kreg Tool Company in Ankeny, IA is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to lead product development from concept through production. You will work on cross-functional teams, translating requirements into robust designs and delivering production-ready solutions.

The role requires 5–7 years of experience in mechanical design, proficiency in SolidWorks, and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM/DFA principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years in product development and mechanical design.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or other 3D CAD across components, assemblies, interfaces.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and product development processes.
• Experience applying DFM/DFA and manufacturing best practices.
• Able to independently solve complex technical problems and make sound decisions.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Exercise sound engineering judgment on incomplete or evolving requirements.
• Develop complex products, subsystems, and interfaces.
• Translate requirements into production-ready designs.
• Maintain engineering deliverables and design release for safety and compliance.
• Evaluate tradeoffs balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Lead full product development lifecycle from concept to production launch.
• Collaborate with product management, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing.
• Partner with suppliers and manufacturers throughout development.
• Communicate technical decisions, risks, and tradeoffs clearly.
• Resolve technical questions in cross-functional teams.
