Senior Product Development Engineer – Electronics – MEDELA, LLC • McHenry, IL • Hybrid Role (3 days on-site) • Starting Salary: $120,000 with bonus potential

Overview

We are looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer – Electronics to lead the design and development of embedded electronic systems for next‑generation medical devices.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of embedded electronic systems for medical devices.
  • Develop hardware architectures, schematics, and PCB layouts.
  • Drive projects from concept, prototyping, and verification through production release.
  • Design analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuits.
  • Perform circuit analysis, simulations, troubleshooting, and root cause investigations.
  • Define and manage hardware requirements aligned with overall system architecture.
  • Support verification and validation testing and incorporate findings into design improvements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, risk assessments, and engineering records.
  • Collaborate closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams.
  • Support design transfer to manufacturing, BOM optimization, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and subject matter expert for hardware development.
Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing embedded electronic hardware products.
  • Strong expertise in analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuit design.
  • Experience designing microcontroller‑based systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with PCB design and schematic capture tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience taking products from concept through production.
  • Preferred: Experience with Altium Designer and Altium 365.
  • Experience in medical devices or other regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of IEC 60601, EMC/EMI requirements, FCC, RED, or similar regulatory standards.
  • Familiarity with embedded firmware development in C/C++.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and production industrialization.
