Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a Senior Product Designer for a 12-month contract to build internal tools for financial operations. You'll move between user research, systems design, AI prototyping, and production code, partnering with product, engineering, and operations to turn complex workflows into intuitive tools.

You should be comfortable working independently from problem identification to shipping production solutions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of product design experience in startup or fast-paced environments.
• Experience designing and launching in complex or technical industries such as financial services.
• Able to read and build with API documentation.
• Able to translate complex processes, data, business rules, and edge cases into clear and efficient experiences with auditability.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design process from research through to production.
• Design complex operational workflows with multi-user roles and data sources.
• Build AI-powered prototypes to align stakeholders.
• Turn prototypes into production experiences with front-end code contributions.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams.
• Contribute to scalable design systems for tables, dashboards, and forms.
• Communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly.
