Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a Senior Product Designer to design and build internal tools for complex financial operations. This hands-on role blends user research, systems design, AI prototyping, and production code, with independence from problem to production.

You'll collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to translate workflows and business rules into intuitive interfaces, while shaping the design system and contributing to production experiences.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in product design.
• Designed and launched in complex or technical industries.
• Comfortable reading and building with API documentation.
• Translate complicated processes, data, business rules, and edge cases into clear experiences with auditability and regulatory concerns in mind.
• Work independently and communicate design decisions clearly across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end design process from research to post-launch iteration.
• Design complex operational workflows with multiple roles and data sources.
• Build AI-powered prototypes for cross-stakeholder alignment.
• Turn prototypes into production experiences with coding collaboration.
• Champion operational users through interviews and usability testing.
• Apply systems thinking to data-rich interfaces for monitoring and decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering to push production code to the front end.
• Contribute to a scalable design system for dashboards and forms.
• Manage multiple initiatives with progress updates, risks, and dependencies.
