Job description

About Tin Can

Tin Can is building a safer, simpler way for kids to connect - without smartphones. We're creating screen-free, delightful devices and services that let families call the people who matter most, free from the noise of today's digital world.

We're building a bold, authentic, nostalgic, and kinda quirky brand that resonates with folks who want something simpler & better for their kids than the tech-infused lives we're currently living (and who have a sense of humor about it).

The Role

A referral text, a landing page, an ad - none of it works if it doesn't look and feel like Tin Can. That's this role.

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer with exceptional taste and serious visual chops to own design across everything that gets a family from curious to convinced: our e-commerce site (landing pages, product pages, checkout), our acquisition programs, and whatever wild campaign Brand dreams up next. You'll partner closely with our Conversion PM and our Acquisition & Brand PM, and with Brand (fair warning: these folks have ideas!), turning ambitious concepts into something beautiful, clear, and unmistakably Tin Can. You'll also partner with the team who owns the core phone and app experience, so the site and the product feel like one continuous story.

This is a hands-on role for someone who cares as much about the pixel as the punchline, and who's energized by making something look so good it converts without ever feeling like it's trying to.

What You'll Do
  • Own the visual design of our growth experiences - the e-commerce site, campaign pages, and acquisition programs

  • Bring exceptional visual craft and brand taste to everything you touch

  • Dig into customer problems with Product, figure out the fix, and design it

  • Talk to customers to understand what's actually working, turn customer insights and performance data into concrete design improvements

  • Design for testing - know how to isolate a change, run it, and iterate your way toward a bigger vision, not just a single win

  • Partner with Brand and Product designers so everything Tin can feels coherent

  • Build the patterns and design language that help the team and when appropriate, AI, move fast but meet our bar

  • Get hands-on: prototype it, write the copy, sit with an engineer until it's right

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years designing and shipping consumer-facing digital experiences, with a portfolio that shows exceptional visual craft; you're brand and you're product

  • Exceptional taste - you make a brand's spirit sing without losing the plot on usability

  • Strong UX fundamentals; it has to convert above all else

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, conversion-oriented environment

  • Fluency using AI as a design multiplier (exploration, prototyping, production)

  • Excellent judgment around user trust and quality, designing for kids and parents

  • Clear communication and the ability to bring Brand, Product, and engineering along

  • Hands-on and scrappy approach; you'd rather dig into the research or the data yourself than wait for someone to hand you the answer

  • Low ego, high enthusiasm - you cheer as loud for someone else's idea as your own

Why Join Tin Can
  • We're building tech that protects childhood: We're on a quest to give kids a more analog childhood - one with real conversations, real connection, and way less screen time. No doomscrolling, data mining, or dopamine traps - just a simpler, better way for kids to stay in touch. This is a rare opportunity to build something that truly matters.

  • You'll make the first impression unforgettable: Growth is where a family decides Tin Can is for them. You'll own making that moment as beautiful and persuasive as the product itself.

  • Small, high-trust team: Every company says "team," but at Tin Can it means something different. We're a small, mission-driven group that genuinely has each other's backs - professionally and personally. You'll be joining a tight-knit crew where your ideas and instincts matter from day one.

  • Room to explore, not just execute: You'll have the space to explore new ideas, challenge assumptions, and shape a product experience that reflects our values of trust, simplicity, and care.
