Job summary

HI-LEX is seeking a Senior Product Designer in Rochester Hills, MI to create product designs using 3D CAD systems, generate fully dimensioned drawings, and collaborate across functions throughout development.

The role requires a 2-year engineering or CAD/design degree and 10+ years of drafting/design experience, with Catia V5 and NX proficiency, GD&T expertise, and strong communication and problem-solving skills. Open seating environment.

Qualifications

• 2-year degree in engineering or CAD/design preferred.
• 10+ years drafting and design experience.
• Experience in design/packaging as it pertains to systems and products.

Responsibilities

• Creates new and revised product designs using 3D CAD systems.
• Provides completed layouts and final product design from simple sketches.
• Performs feasibility studies based on customer data.
• Provides input into design and tolerance stack studies to ensure robustness.
• Prepares drawing packages/concepts for RFQs with quality drawings and quick timing.
• Instructs CAD detailers on requirements, tolerances, GD&T and drafting practices.
• Promotes an environment consistent with long-term objectives.
