Job summary

EY's Financial Services Organization (FSO) PxD team seeks a design lead to drive AI-first, human-centered product and experience design end to end. You will mentor junior designers, own workstreams, and partner with researchers, technologists, PMs, and client teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.

You’ll use LLMs and AI tools to frame problems, generate options, prototype, and synthesize insights, while ensuring rigorous client-facing decisions and strong design system discipline.

Qualifications

• Requires a design education with 3+ years’ post-baccalaureate experience or a master's with 2+ years.
• Portfolio showing end-to-end product design and outcomes.
• Advanced Figma skills including prototyping and design systems.
• Regular use of LLMs in the design process.
• Experience with AI-assisted design tools (Claude, Cursor, Figma Make).
• Experience in Agile environments with Jira; strong communication.
• Travel up to 80% to support client needs.

Join EY's Financial Services Organization (FSO) PxD team to lead AI-first, human-centered product and experience design end to end.

Responsibilities

• Serve as design lead for a workstream.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including researchers, technologists, product managers, and engagement team members.
• Own workstream design from problem framing with the client through production-ready specifications engineers can build from.
• Act as the primary day-to-day design partner for the client and mentor junior designers.
• Use AI to accelerate framing, option generation, prototyping, and synthesis while staying accountable for client-facing decisions.
• Outside client engagements, support business development such as pursuits and proposals.
• Participate in practice-building activities, including mentoring colleagues and developing or delivering training.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, UX Design, Interaction Design, Industrial or Product Design, or a related field, plus 3 years of progressive post-baccalaureate work experience; alternatively, a master's degree with 2 years of work experience.
• Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design, including problem framing, interaction design, visual craft, and outcomes.
• Advanced proficiency in Figma, including prototyping, components, and contributing to a design system.
• Regular use of LLMs in the design process.
• Comfort using AI-assisted design and prototyping tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Figma Make.
• Experience designing complex, data-heavy, or workflow-driven products.
• Experience delivering in Agile teams using Jira or an equivalent tool.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Domestic and regional travel required up to 80% to support client needs.

Skills and attributes for success

• AI-first design craft: move from research, problem framing, user flows, and high-fidelity design to end-to-end production-ready Figma files.
• LLM and AI-assisted prototyping: use Claude, Cursor, and/or Figma Make to frame problems, generate first-pass options, build live-coded prototypes, iterate with users and stakeholders, and speed synthesis.
• Judgment and accountability: select the right problem, choose the right option, and review for accuracy, accessibility, bias, and brand before clients see results.
• Designing AI-enabled and agentic experiences: define handoff, supervision, and correction for what AI or agents produce.
• Designing trust for financial decisions (how users decide to trust AI output).
• Design uncertainty, confidence, error, correction, and handoff as explicit states.
• Avoid treating AI as a bolt-on chat overlay to an existing flow.
• Build explainability, transparency, and human-in-the-loop control from the start; elevate risks to the right owners when needed.
• Design systems: leverage, contribute to, and evolve client design systems and brand guidelines.
• Complexity: design data-heavy, role-based experiences used by internal and external teams.
• Agile delivery: collaborate and deliver in Agile teams using Jira and related platforms.
• Clear specifications: write specification-level clarity and acceptance criteria; adapt when requirements evolve during delivery.
• Research and outcomes: run lean research to keep work moving and align on success measures with product owners and stakeholders.
• Post-launch learning: monitor feature performance in use and propose improvements when necessary.
• Client communication: own day-to-day client relationship for the workstream; present clearly to engineers, product owners, and senior business stakeholders.
• Workshop facilitation and coaching: facilitate workshops and coaching so client teams can sustain the work after delivery.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Experience in financial services (banking and capital markets, wealth and asset management, insurance, or real estate) or in hospitality and construction.
• Experience delivering AI-powered or agentic product features to production.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and how they influence design decisions.
• Experience coaching client teams or building design capability in another organization.

• Salary: USD 100,200 - 188,100 per year.
• Primary location: Washington, DC (onsite).
• Other locations: Anywhere in Region.
• Base salary by office (as provided): New York City, Boston, Washington DC Metro Areas, Washington State, and Southern California offices - $120,200 to $180,600; Bay Area California offices - $125,300 to $188,100; all other US offices including Sacramento - $100,200 to $165,400.
