Job summary

Watlow Electric Manufacturing Company seeks a Senior Product Design Engineer to redefine how we design, prototype, and release products. You will lead the remapping of our product design process to accelerate from customer problem to prototype and to validated production designs.

You will implement and tailor off-the-shelf CAD, configurators, and simulation tools, while owning hands-on design, testing, and documentation for thermal products and systems. Hillsboro, OR-based role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree or equivalent hands-on design experience.
• 5+ years in product design with ownership from concept to production release.
• Experience deploying design automation tools (parametric/configurable modeling, CAD templates, libraries).
• Know-how in GD&T, DFM/DFA, and change documentation control.
• Proven track record improving engineering/manufacturing processes to cut cycle times.
• Hands-on rapid prototyping, including additive manufacturing or quick-turn prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Map and redesign the end-to-end product design process for speed to solution.
• Evaluate and implement design automation tools to shorten customer-to-prototype paths.
• Configure CAD/PLM/ERP systems with light customization.
• Create and maintain design rules, standards, and reusable libraries for automated configurations.
• Produce designs and manufacturing docs with independent judgment and appropriate modifications.
• Drive rapid prototyping and simulation-led design to shorten development cycles.
