Job summary

ITT Engineered Valves, LLC is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer in Amory, MS to direct technical activities for a family of products and major design projects. The role involves creating layouts, BOMs, configurations, and coordinating cross-functional teams to meet performance goals.

You will apply DFMEA/DFMA and VAVE principles, manage prototypes and tests, and prepare technical documentation for sales and production. A BS in engineering with 5–10 years of experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university.
• 5–10 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data and customer specs to assess feasibility of product proposals.
• Prepare work plans, cost estimates, budgets and schedules for major design projects.
• Collaborate with customer service, product management and customers to clarify and resolve problems and develop designs.
• Create product/system layout, detailed drawings and schematics; establish part numbers, BOMs and configuration rules.
• Direct prototype fabrication and test programs to verify design adequacy.
• Plan experiments and analyze results to meet specs and performance targets.
• Review test data to ensure designs meet requirements; prepare test reports.
• Apply DFMEA, DFMA and VAVE principles.
• Drive NPD/NPI projects with cross-functional teams to meet targets.
• Prepare manuals, illustrations, and technical information; support marketing materials for accuracy.
• Analyze product performance issues; disposition returns and recommend solutions.
• Prepare work instructions and department procedures; conduct product training.
• Disposit nonconforming material and initiate corrective actions.
• Review work by others for accuracy; use Creo and Windchill for engineering tasks.
• Knowledge of patent and trademark filings.

Overview

Directs and coordinates all technical functions relating to an assigned family of products and/or major design projects by performing the following duties

Responsibilities

• Analyzes research data or customer specifications and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal.
• Prepares work-plans, cost estimates, project budgets and schedules for major design projects. Reports adherence to schedule, budget and technical requirements.
• Confers with customer service, product management and customers to clarify or resolve problems and develops design.
• Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics including establishment of new part numbers, bills of material and configuration rules.
• Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
• Plans and develops experimental test programs or prepares or directs preparation of analysis to verify design adequacy.
• Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Prepares or coordinates preparation of test reports for newly performed tests.
• Understand DFMEA, DFMA and VAVE principles.
• Participate and drive NPD, NPI project and collaborate with diff cross functional team to meet the targets.
• Prepares or directs preparation of instruction manuals, illustrations and other technical information for projects and for general sales literature. Supports and reviews marketing materials for technical accuracy.
• Analyzes product performance problems and dispositions customer returns. Recommends solutions to satisfy customer requirements. Prepares reports for internal use or for distribution to customers.
• Prepare work instructions and department procedures.
• Perform training on products and procedures in area of expertise.
• Dispositions nonconforming material or products and initiates corrective action.
• Reviews work performed by subordinates or other engineers for accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards. Uses 3D CAD (Creo) software and PLM (Windchill) tool to perform engineering and design tasks.
• Knowledge of Patent and trademark filings

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S. in Engineering) from four-year college or university and five to ten years of related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

ENGINEERING SKILLS

Ability to apply common engineering principles. Understanding of Stress and Strain, Torsion, Bending, Fatigue, Buckling, Fluid mechanics, Material science etc..

Familiar with ANSI Y14.5 drawing and GD&T standards.

COMPUTING SKILLS

Must have a working knowledge of 3D CAD engineering software (PTC Creo preferred) and working know how of PLM (Windchill preferred) and ERP (SAP preferred) . Ability to utilize custom MS office environment.
