Job summary

Nex is seeking a seasoned product counsel to be the primary legal partner for Product, Engineering, Trust & Safety, Design, and Marketing. You will own Nex’s privacy program, COPPA compliance, and consent flows for a camera- and AI-driven product used by children; advise on consumer protection, IP, AI regulation, and product safety considerations.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active bar in California or relevant state.
• 4–7+ years of experience in tech product counseling.
• Deep experience with children’s privacy compliance (COPPA, GDPR-K).
• Experience advising Product, Engineering, Design teams through the full product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Own privacy program end-to-end: COPPA compliance, data mapping for camera- and AI-driven product.
• Draft, review and maintain privacy policy, terms of service, and parental consent flows for new markets.
• Advise on privacy-by-design and age-appropriate product experiences from ideation through launch.
• Monitor regulatory landscape (COPPA, GDPR-K, state laws) and translate into product guidance.
• Serve as point of contact for privacy incidents, regulatory inquiries, and DS/parental requests.
• Collaborate with Legal Operations and Commercial Counsel on privacy questions in vendor and operational contexts.
