Job summary

Bazaarvoice seeks an experienced technology and AI governance attorney to advise on complex AI, data privacy, and tech transactions. You will partner with product, engineering and security teams to ensure privacy-by-design and regulatory compliance across global initiatives.

You will lead AI governance efforts, advise on SaaS/PaaS contracts, and translate regulatory risks into actionable business guidance for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• 10+ years of relevant legal experience
• Experience advising on AI/ML and data privacy
• Strong knowledge of GDPR/CCPA and AI regulatory landscape
• Ability to translate complex risk into practical business advice
• Autonomous, cross-functional leader with influence
• Experience building AI governance frameworks or review committees
• Certifications (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E) are a plus
• Background in computer science, engineering, or related technical field

Responsibilities

• Provide forward-looking legal advice on technology-related matters including AI, software development, and cloud initiatives.
• Embed with product and engineering teams to review features from ideation to launch with privacy-by-design and AI-safety-by-design.
• Lead development and updating of policies for AI use, governance, data privacy, open-source licensing, and IP.
• Monitor global technology laws and regulations with emphasis on AI, GDPR/CCPA, and cybersecurity.
• Identify legal/ethical risks in AI projects and develop mitigation strategies.
• Draft and negotiate high-stakes technology agreements (SaaS, PaaS, partnerships).
• Scrutinize AI model provider agreements focusing on data rights, IP indemnity, confidentiality.
• Advise on protection/enforcement of Bazaarvoice IP including novel AI/IP challenges.
• Collaborate with IT, Security, Privacy, and Compliance to ensure data workflows meet privacy/security standards.
• Advise senior leadership across IT, Security, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Biz Dev.
• Develop and deliver training on responsible AI, tech contracts, IP, and data privacy.
