Job summary

Semafor is seeking a Senior Producer, Video & Live Journalism to lead interview-led programming with a focus on CEO conversations and global decision-makers. You will shape livestream strategy, adapt shows for on-demand formats, and guide multi-camera productions from concept through publication.

You’ll work with newsroom and audience teams to sharpen editorial thesis, prep hosts, and drive distribution plans that maximize reach and impact across platforms.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience in a newsroom, broadcast organization, or digital news operation with responsibility for video journalism or interview-led programming.
• Strong editorial judgment and grasp of business, economics, politics, technology, global affairs, and corporate leadership.
• Experience working with hosts, reporters, editors, executives, or public figures.
• Sophisticated understanding of YouTube and LinkedIn and how audience expectations differ across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own interview shows from idea to publication, leading end-to-end production including development, research, pre-interviews, host prep, rundowns, scripts, production, post-production, and publishing.
• Collaborate with hosts, reporters, and editors to identify moments that yield candid, newsworthy interviews rather than routine profiles.
• Develop and coach hosts on on-camera voice, pacing, and chemistry; provide clear feedback throughout production.
• Lead studio, field, remote, and event shoots, managing crews, lighting, audio, editors, vendors, schedules, and budgets.
• Build distribution plans with the audience team and extend life of events through livestreams, full conversations, and short-form cuts.
• Direct editorial direction in editing, shaping long-form episodes, trailers, and promotional assets; give notes on structure, pacing, visuals, and tone.
• Create scalable production systems with repeatable workflows, calendars, and QA standards.
• Maintain high editorial standards for accuracy, fairness, transparency, and independence.
