Job summary

Albertsons Companies is seeking a Sr. Manager, Produce Quality Control to lead the enterprise produce QC across the distribution network. This leader sets and enforces quality standards for freshness, appearance, temperature, and shelf life.

You will partner with DC leadership, Procurement, Transportation, Food Safety, Merchandising and suppliers to drive consistent quality and continuous improvement, coaching local teams and resolving issues with urgency. Travel 40-50% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in food science or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Significant progressive leadership experience within the produce industry.
• Extensive experience overseeing produce quality assurance or quality control within large-scale distribution or supply chain environments.
• Strong knowledge of produce commodities, grading standards, ripening characteristics, shelf life, handling requirements, and seasonal quality variations.
• Experience leading quality programs across multiple distribution centers or geographic regions.
• Strong understanding of produce food safety requirements including GAP, GMP, HACCP, FSMA, and cold chain management.
• Experience partnering with growers, shippers, suppliers, procurement organizations, and distribution operations.
• Demonstrated success developing quality teams and driving operational consistency across multiple locations.
• Strong analytical skills with experience using quality metrics to improve supplier performance and operational execution.
• Ability to travel regularly to distribution centers and supplier locations (40-50%) of your time.
• Ability to use industry standard quality assurance tools, proficient in computer skills/programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise quality standards for produce across distribution centers.
• Oversee receiving quality to ensure freshness, temperature, maturity, size, and shelf life meet specifications.
• Develop standardized quality inspection processes, scorecards, reporting, and audit routines.
• Ensure quality standards are executed across all receiving operations.
• Lead investigations into quality failures and drive corrective actions with suppliers and teams.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste, extend shelf life, and improve customer satisfaction.
