Job summary

Chicago Housing Authority is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to lead training and support for procurement staff, manage bids, and ensure policy adherence. The role involves independent work, strong business judgment, and cross-functional collaboration within CHA.

The position emphasizes effective vendor relations, market analysis, and timely reporting, with a hybrid work arrangement and potential remote work after a probation period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field with at least five years of responsible buying experience or equivalent combination.
• Proficient in procurement methods, principles and terminology; strong written and verbal communication.
• Certification in purchasing/procurement (NIGP) encouraged and preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research, evaluate and develop invitations for bids, RFPs, and RFQs.
• Conduct procurement outreach and communicate CHA's procurement process.
• Prepare weekly and ad hoc management reports on procurement activities.
• Train staff on procurement policies and procedures and assist in policy development.
• Coordinate bid openings, evaluations and negotiations with user departments and vendors.
• Maintain vendor base and ensure confidentiality and proper documentation.
