Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking a Senior Buyer in Procurement to support district-wide purchasing, contracts, and supplier management. Under supervision, you will lead complex procurement activities and help shape multi-year acquisitions.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and several years of professional purchasing experience; you’ll coordinate with legal, finance, and program teams, and oversee contract negotiations while ensuring compliance and value for the district.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, or related field.
• 4 years of professional purchasing experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Knowledge of public sector purchasing and records management.
• Experience with complex contracts and RFPs.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and coordinates complex purchasing activities with District-wide impact.
• Develops specifications, contracting and expediting activities; negotiates multi-year contracts.
• Directs supplier performance and selects suppliers to improve quality and service.
• Leads negotiating teams and may supervise staff on projects.
• Maintains accurate records and generates reports.
