Job summary

Lilly is building an advanced manufacturing facility in Houston and seeks a Process Safety Engineer to lead PSM activities from design through startup and into GMP operations. This role partners with Engineering, Operations, Quality and HSE to ensure safety systems are robust and compliant.

Responsibilities include supporting PHA/HAZOP, LOPA analyses, and change management, plus sustaining process safety programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing with PSM knowledge (OSHA 1910.119).
• Experience with PHA, HAZOP, What-If analyses; LOPA knowledge.
• Familiarity with EPA RMP requirements and administration.
• Certified Process Safety Professional (CCPSC) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of core process safety management elements for site readiness.
• Provide input during facility design, construction, commissioning, qualification, startup.
• Support risk studies: PHA, HAZOP, What-If, LOPA; document findings.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, HSE to integrate safety requirements.
• Sustain and improve PSM programs; monitor performance via audits and KPIs.
• Engage with external industry groups to stay current with best practices.
