Job summary

PTS Advance in South Gate, CA is seeking a Plant Instructor (Process Operator Trainer) to move from hands-on operations into teaching the next generation of operators. This direct-hire, on-site role focuses on formalizing process knowledge and safety practices.

You will design and deliver multi-course programs, keep training records, and ensure LMS compliance while collaborating with operations, maintenance, and safety teams. This is a hands-on teaching role with room to grow into leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on process operations experience in a plant.
• Ability to explain processes clearly to newer operators.
• Experience training new hires or transitioning to instructor roles.

Responsibilities

• Teach process fundamentals to operations personnel.
• Lead training on pumps, valves, instrumentation, fractionators, heat exchangers, and vacuum systems.
• Run multi-course programs on fractional distillation, water treatment, and other separation processes.
• Deliver new hire, refresher, and remedial training across operations, maintenance, and safety.
• Keep training records and compliance requirements current in the company LMS.

Plant Instructor (Process Operator Trainer) | South Gate, CA | Direct Hire

Ready to move from running the process to teaching it? I'm running a confidential direct-hire search on behalf of an established petroleum refining, hazardous waste recycling, and environmental services company. This is a hands‑on operations role, not an HR or L&D position.

What you'll do

• Teach process fundamentals like fluids behavior, heat, and heat transfer to operations personnel
• Lead training on pumps, valves, instrumentation, fractionators, heat exchangers, and vacuum systems
• Run multi-course programs on fractional distillation, water treatment, and other separation processes
• Deliver new hire, refresher, and remedial training across operations, maintenance, and safety
• Keep training records and compliance requirements current in the company LMS

What you bring

• 5+ years of hands‑on process operations experience in a plant
• A real understanding of how the processes work, and the ability to explain them clearly to newer operators
• Experience helping train new hires, and a clear picture of how you'd step into an instructor role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Technical training beyond high school is a plus (process operator vocational training or equivalent)
