Job summary

Mariana Minerals is seeking a Staff Process Modeling Engineer to develop, validate, and optimize heat and material balance models for next‑generation mineral refining. You will translate lab and pilot data into scalable process models using ASPEN Plus/HYSYS, SysCAD, OLI Studio, or METSIM, and lead modeling standards across projects.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with R&D and operations, and help ensure model fidelity from concept through commercial deployment, driving efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in chemical/ mechanical/ process engineering or a closely related field.
• 8+ years of experience developing and applying process models for chemical processing or refining.
• Experience with ASPEN Plus / HYSYS, SysCAD, OLI Studio/OLI Flowsheet, or METSIM.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer, mass transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow.
• Experience with data reconciliation, parameter fitting, and model validation.
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for automation and data processing.

Responsibilities

• Develop steady-state and dynamic process models to establish heat and material balances.
• Automate equipment sizing and link models to datasheets and engineering tools.
• Develop and maintain process simulation databases with traceability.
• Calibrate models using pilot or plant data to ensure fidelity.
• Conduct process optimization studies on energy recovery and material efficiency.
• Develop dynamic models to validate PLC/DCS programming and buffer sizing.
• Link models to capex/opex estimation tools and automate technoeconomic models.
• Document methodologies and results for design reviews and regulatory submissions.
